Websites for stations that go live

Online radio, web TV, IPTV services and news broadcasters need something a normal business site can't do: a player that keeps playing while people browse, a schedule that's readable at a glance, and an archive nobody has to dig for. That's what we build.

  • Player stays live across pages
  • Works with your existing stream
  • From $250 CAD, one-time

Four kinds of broadcast site

Each one puts a different thing first. Pick the closest and we'll shape the rest around how you actually operate.

Online radio

Listeners arrive to press play and stay for hours. Everything else on the site has to work without interrupting the audio.

  • Docked player that survives page changes
  • Now-playing track and show name
  • Weekly schedule grid
  • Presenter pages and request forms
  • Podcast feed for repeat shows

Web TV channels

A live channel plus a growing library. The site's job is to make both easy to reach on a phone and on a TV browser.

  • Full-width live player with fallback poster
  • Programme guide by day
  • Video archive sorted by show and category
  • Chromecast and AirPlay from the browser
  • Clip sharing straight to social

IPTV and OTT services

A licensed service selling access needs a front door: what's in the package, what it costs, and how to sign up without phoning anyone.

  • Channel lineup and package comparison
  • Plan pricing and device compatibility pages
  • Setup guides per device
  • Support and troubleshooting section
  • Subscriber login and billing, quoted separately

News broadcasting

A newsroom publishes several times a day. The front page has to stay fast while stories, video and bulletins pile up behind it.

  • Front page that reorders as stories break
  • Article layouts with embedded video bulletins
  • Categories, tags and reporter bylines
  • Live blog format for election and event nights
  • Non-Latin scripts handled properly

The parts that make a station site work

Not every station needs all of these. We'll tell you which ones earn their place on your site and which ones are just clutter.

A player that doesn't stop

Docked at the bottom of the screen and still playing when a listener taps through to the schedule. The single biggest difference between a station site and an ordinary one.

Schedule people can read

A weekly grid on desktop, a scrollable day list on mobile, with what's on right now marked clearly. Times shown in the viewer's own timezone if your audience is spread out.

On-demand archive

Past shows and bulletins organised by programme and date, so someone who missed the interview can find it in two taps instead of scrolling a wall of files.

Podcast feed

A proper RSS feed so your recorded shows land in Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Free reach for episodes you've already produced.

Installs to the home screen

Set up so listeners can add the station to their phone's home screen and open it like an app, without you paying for two native app builds and store review.

Room for sponsors

Defined sponsor slots and a rate-card page, so advertisers can see the audience and the placements without a meeting first.

Built for diaspora audiences

Tamil, Chinese, Urdu, Punjabi, Farsi and other non-Latin scripts render properly, with fonts that stay readable at small sizes. We've done this for a Tamil-language newspaper.

Numbers you can show sponsors

Analytics wired up so you can report site visits and player starts. Actual listener hours come from your streaming provider's stats, and we'll show you where to find them.

Watchable on a TV browser

Layouts checked at TV screen sizes and distances, plus Chromecast and AirPlay from the browser so viewers can throw the stream up on the big screen.

Who handles what

Streaming projects go wrong when nobody says this out loud at the start. So here it is, before you pay anything.

nextcanada.build

What we build

The website and everything a visitor touches.

  • The site design, pages and navigation
  • The player, wired to your stream URL or embed code
  • Schedule, show pages, archive and article layouts
  • Podcast RSS feed generation
  • SEO setup, analytics and Google indexing
  • Web hosting setup for the site itself
your.streaming.provider

What stays with your stream host

The broadcast side, and it should stay there.

  • Encoding and transcoding your feed
  • Bandwidth and delivery to listeners
  • Uptime of the stream itself
  • Listener statistics and concurrent limits
  • Automation and playout scheduling software
  • Your content licences and broadcast rights

We connect to whatever your provider gives you — an Icecast or Shoutcast URL, an HLS link, or a hosted embed. If you haven't picked a provider yet we'll walk you through the options and roughly what each costs, then set it up.

On rights and licensing: we build websites for stations that hold the rights to what they broadcast. Music streaming in Canada generally involves licences through organisations like SOCAN and Re:Sound, and carrying television channels requires agreements with the broadcasters who own them. That side is yours to arrange, and we'll ask about it before quoting. We don't build sites for redistributing channels without the rights holders' permission.

Three packages. Real prices.

Most stations land on Business or Business Pro, because a schedule and an archive need the page count. Scope and the final number are confirmed in writing first.

Quoted separately from the packages: subscriber logins and paid access, recurring billing, native iOS and Android apps, live chat during broadcasts, custom electronic programme guides, and second-language versions of the site. Your stream hosting is billed by your streaming provider; the website's domain and hosting are billed by yours, so both stay in your name.

What station owners ask

If yours isn't here, message us. You'll get a straight answer, not a sales call.

Do you host the stream itself?
No, and you don't want us to. We build the website and connect it to your stream. The audio or video delivery belongs with a specialist streaming host — cheaper per listener, better uptime, and proper stats. If you haven't chosen one yet we'll walk you through the options and set it up.
Which streaming providers can you connect to?
Anything that gives you a standard stream URL or an embed code. Icecast and Shoutcast for radio, HLS for video, or a hosted platform's player. Send us what your provider gave you and we'll wire it in.
Will the player keep playing between pages?
Yes. It stays docked at the bottom of the screen and keeps running while people move around. A player that restarts every time someone taps a link is the fastest way to lose a listener, so we treat this as standard rather than an upgrade.
Can I sell subscriptions through the site?
Subscriber accounts, paywalls and recurring billing are quoted on top of the packages. Plan structure, payment gateway, tax handling and refund flow vary too much between services for a flat price to be honest. Tell us how you want to charge and we'll quote it properly.
Do I need licences to stream music or TV channels?
Almost certainly, and that part is yours to arrange with the rights holders. In Canada, music streaming usually involves licences through organisations such as SOCAN and Re:Sound, and carrying television channels means agreements with the broadcasters who own them. We're web developers, not licensing advisors, so get proper advice on your situation. We build for stations that hold their rights, and we don't build sites for redistributing channels without permission.
Can listeners get an app?
The site is built so it can be added to a phone's home screen and opens like an app, which covers most stations at no extra cost. Native iOS and Android builds are a separate project with store fees and review timelines attached — worth doing once the website is proving the audience is there.
My station broadcasts in another language. Is that a problem?
No. We've built for a Tamil-language newspaper, so non-Latin scripts and the font work that goes with them are familiar. A fully translated second version of the site is quoted separately depending on page count.
How long does a station site take?
A Starter site can be live within a few days of getting your stream details and logo. Schedules and archives take longer, mostly because gathering show names, times and presenter photos takes you longer than building it takes us. You get a target date with the quote.

Send us your stream link

That plus your logo is enough for us to come back with a price and a timeline, usually the same day.
